Observations from Athens…
Athens is city of great contrasts. Dogs rome the streets and people walk by. The buildings are filled with graffiti. Traffic is everywhere. Motorcycles and scooters are everywhere, and the vehicles are tiny. At restaurants, no one seems to be in a hurry. Is the tip included, or not? I had a $6.50 euro Milk Shake.
This morning we went to the National Historical Museum, it was an excellent experience. It was nice to see the statues and relics that have been excavated from the ancient sites. Unfortunately they do not allow photos, so I only have videos. Note to self, edit the video and invite people over.
Athens has been an interesting experience, probably the hardest thing to get use to is the slow pace of the people. Yes, they are a major metropolitan area with fashion and trends affecting them, however it is not uncommon to have a 2-3 hrs lunch. It was weird, we felt like we were just sitting like taking up space. Well yes we were but no dirty looks from the servers telling us to get up and leave. For the last 2 days our lunch and dinners were not rushed, or hurried. It was nice to just sit and relax and discuss the events of the day.
Tomorrow we will leave Athens and make our way south to the port and get on the ship. Then we begin out 28 day adventure on the sea. Our first 2 stops are in Egypt and Israel, so we will be seeing a lot very quickly.
Enjoying the site…keep up the great work…most of all…ENJOY yourselves! Hugs!
